Timeshare Benefits
Imagine the expenses of owning your own vacation property or
vacation home. Besides the actual purchase cost, you have other
expenses to consider: taxes, maintenance, etc... All for something
you might use once or twice a year.
Now imagine purchasing only the time you plan to spend
at your vacation home and share the expenses with other
owners via a yearly maintenance fee. In a nutshell, that's timeshare.
As a Timeshare / Vacation Owner, you could stay at your home
resort and after a week of vacation pay little or nothing at
check-out. Your Home Resort may also offer additional free or
discounted day-use or weekend getaway benefits.

Vacation Around the World
Additionally, most of these resorts are part of a large network
of resorts. This allows you to exchange your time for destinations,
other than where you actually own your vacation. The cost to
make an exchange is comparable one night in a moderately priced
hotel. The difference is, an Exchange Network fee would be for
your entire stay at a resort!

Purchasing and Other Information
The one-time purchase price for ownership can vary greatly
(from as little a few thousand to over $45,000) and is based
on several factors: The size of the unit, the season or week
being purchased, the resort's location, the resort's amenities
and so on.
Having said this, the rule-of-thumb is, purchase your ownership
for roughly what you would have spent in 10 years renting your
vacations.
The logic, of course, is similar to purchasing a house. If
you can get a mortgage for approximately what you're spending
in rent, then ownership will always make more sense.
Typical Ownership's
Deeded Ownership - May be willed, resold or transferred. Some
States only allow deeded programs to be sold.
Membership - Typically, for a predetermined number of years.
Some memberships allow for transferors (e.g. left in a will).
